About

Thank you for visiting Deb’s Dash.  The site’s name is inspired by the following quote I saw online (related to the poem, The Dash, by Linda Ellis):

“There are two dates on every tombstone. There’s a birth date and there’s a date of death, and every human being is guaranteed those two dates.  But that little dash that lies between those two numbers is what defines our lives.  So make your dash count!  Live. . .really live!”

Debbie Thomas made her “dash” count by impacting many lives with her love, laughter and generosity.  I was privileged to be her best friend and husband for 36 years (four years dating, 32 years married), and we were blessed with two wonderful sons – Alan (27) and Jeffrey (25).  On November 30, 2014, God called Debbie home at the age of 54 after her courageous two year journey with ovarian cancer which you can read about at her Caring Bridge site.

Deb’s Dash will provide a fun place to share wonderful memories and stories from our life together. The site will also provide a connection point for future Grandkids (maybe even Great-Grandkids?) to help them know how special their Grandma Thomas was. I’ll also use the site to keep folks updated on our latest family news.

Finally, I hope and pray that Deb’s Dash will encourage all of us to make our “dashes” count by living life fully with God-given meaning and purpose.

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)

  1. Hi Bob, thank you for allowing us to continue to be a part of your life journey in this new way. You and your family have been an inspiration and motivation to cherish the moments we have with our loved ones, and to make our “dash” count.
May this blog connection be a blessing to you in the healing process as you journal, and to us as you share your heart about how God is working in your life. The steps you take are an encouragement for us to take ours.
